Essential Oils were (wo)mankind's first medicines and embody the regenerating, oxygenating and immune-strengthening properties of plants. What better place to use this ancient medicine than in the sacred act of childbirth.

 

Early Labor

Gently apply 1-3 drops of Lavender on stomach or heart area to help stop preterm labor contractions (dilute in coconut oil if your skin is sensitive)

 

During Labor

Use 3 drops of Clary Sage directly on ankles or abdomen (dilute in coconut oil if your skin is sensitive) for abdominal cramps and muscle fatigue

Diffuse Lavender, Clary Sage and Balance blend (made up of spruce, rosewood, blue tansy and frankincense) to help with relaxation, physical stress, emotional balance, harmonizing physiological systems

 

Post Labor

Apply 3 drops of Lavender and Geranium (dilute in coconut oil if your skin is sensitive) on abdomen, ankles or bottoms of feet for calming effect and to help with inflammation, pain, bleeding and tissue regeneration.

 

For Milk Production

Apply 1-2 drops of Clary Sage on breasts to help start production (dilute if sensitive)

Apply 1-2 drops of Fennel or Basil on breasts to help increase production (dilute if sensitive) and note that fennel should not be used for more than 10 days.

Note* Peppermint decreases milk production when applied externally or taken internally

 

For Mastitis

Combine Lavender and Citrus Bliss and apply 1-2 drops on infected breast (dilute if skin is sensitive)
